Jochen Kitzbihler also formulates visual messages from no man's land. His works tread a borderline between photography and sculpture. The objects depicted initially appear to be non-representational sculptures; the titles seem to refer to ancient mythology. In the end, the strangely alien objects turn out to be asteroids, found objects from an unknown world. It remains unclear who and what formed them. Kitzbihler shows them just as enigmatic as they are: against a white background, without any context, without any connection - thrown into our perception out of nowhere. (...) In a literal and figurative sense, Kitzbihler breaks new visual ground here, as he calls his series of extraterrestrial landscapes. Not only the intersections of photography and sculpture are discussed here, but also of science, philosophy and art. (Reinhard Spieler, Sprengel Museum Hanover)
